How to EVgo at ChargePoint

Dec 17, 2020

Did you know that EVgo customers can now use ChargePoint’s more than 700 DC fast chargers, as well as more than 28,000 level-two chargers, all from your EVgo account? EVgo’s Partner Roaming program is now live and available to all EVgo customers at no extra cost.

So what does this mean? It means that you can now charge your vehicle on a ChargePoint charger using the EVgo app or your EVgo Program Card without the hassle of having to create an additional account, say, with ChargePoint. It's that easy.

Let's show you how it works.

Open your EVgo app and log into your account to activate the roaming features. Then click on the filter icon. Be sure to turn on the filter that includes third-party chargers. Don't forget to save your settings. Search for stations as you would search for an EVgo station by clicking on the map icon. Expand the screen to widen your search area.

On the map, the EVgo stations are rounded pins. The ChargePoint pins are diamond-shaped. The larger diamonds represent DC fast chargers, while the smaller diamonds represent Level 2 chargers. The color inside the diamond corresponds to the charger status. Green means the charger is available. Blue means the charger is in use. Red means the charger is unavailable or offline.

Be sure to check the pricing of the ChargePoint charger in the app. Don't forget, pricing is set by the owner of the ChargePoint charger, not EVgo.

When you're at the charger, it's super easy to start a session. Just open up your app and swipe right to begin. That's going to unlock the connector from the Level 2 charger. Alternatively, you can just take your EVgo Program Card and tap it. That will also unlock it. Just plug it in and charging will begin. It's that simple.

Total details of your session, including the total cost, will show up in your app at the end of the session. And you will be billed for that session through your EVgo account. It's that easy.
