LOS ANGELES – November 2, 2017 – EVgo, the nation’s largest network of public electric vehicle (EV) fast charging stations, announced Cathy Zoi as the company’s interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective November 6, 2017.

Zoi, a distinguished executive with decades of experience in the clean energy, investing, and policy worlds, brings new dynamism and fresh perspective to the already strong EVgo team based in Los Angeles. Her extensive background as a CEO with deep management and energy sector expertise are crucial to helping EVgo continue to build on its already market-leading position as the nation’s largest public network of fast chargers for EVs.

“I have known Cathy Zoi for many years, and she is a dynamic and tenacious leader,” said Reuben Munger, Managing Partner of Vision Ridge Partners, LLC. “No one has more experience providing a network of fast chargers to American drivers than EVgo, and I am excited for Cathy to lead the EVgo team as they build on their current successes and charge ahead to the future. Adding her knowledge, management instincts, and passion to the team make EVgo’s bright future even brighter.”

“I have spent a great deal of my career tackling complex challenges during times of disruptive industry change,” said Zoi. “The auto industry is at a critical inflection point with new long range electric vehicles coming out at lower price points. EVgo is already providing charging solutions across the country, and I look forward to working with all of those leading the way to bring EVs to drivers in all geographies and income levels.”

Zoi replaces Dave Schembri, a long-time auto industry executive who left EVgo to return to Michigan after leading the company through its transition to an independent entity following its acquisition by Vision Ridge in the summer of 2016. Zoi has made a six-month commitment to lead EVgo in this transition, focusing on expanding the EVgo team, working closely with key automotive OEM partners, utilities and other industry stakeholders, while continuing to deliver a first-in-class experience for EVgo customers.

Zoi has held a number of senior executive positions in the energy industry, government, academia and non-profit sectors. Most recently she has been President of Odyssey Energy, a distributed generation software company that she co-founded. With Odyssey now well established and its growth trajectory strong, Zoi will lead EVgo while continuing in her role as Odyssey’s Executive Chairman. She is also an adjunct professor and Precourt Energy Scholar at Stanford University, where she has been teaching and doing research since 2012.

Zoi was founding CEO of Frontier Power, a rural electrification company incubated by SunEdison. She served in the Obama Administration as Assistant Secretary and Acting Under Secretary at the Department of Energy, where she oversaw more than $30 billion in energy investments. Zoi was also the founding CEO of both the Alliance for Climate Protection, established and chaired by U.S. Vice President Al Gore; and the Sustainable Energy Development Authority, a $50m fund to commercialize clean energy technologies in New South Wales, Australia. In the private sector, she has been an energy investor at Silver Lake and Bayard Capital, a board member for Ice Energy, SES and Pacific Solar, and a management consultant at ICF and Next Energy. In the early 1990s, Zoi was Chief of Staff for Environmental Policy in the Clinton White House and pioneered the Energy Star program while at the US EPA.

EVgo has the largest public fast-charging network in the country, with more than 980 DC fast chargers across 66 metropolitan markets. The company recently released its first app, which can be downloaded for both Apple and Android products, and continues to lead in making EV fast charging affordable, accessible and reliable for drivers across the country.
