Field Network Operation Technician

Position Description

The successful candidate for the Field O&M Maintenance Technician role will join and support the ever-growing Field Operations team in Los Angeles, CA.  This team is tasked with keeping Electric Vehicles on the road and charging forward by maintaining all electric vehicle charging assets owned and operated by EVgo.  The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing, troubleshooting, and providing solutions to ensure high DC Fast Charging operational uptime.  The Operations & Maintenance Field Technician must be a critical thinker, with the ability to work through problems while identifying opportunities to improve processes and procedures.  Responsibilities include interfacing with equipment and service suppliers to ensure field resources are deployed with the necessary solutions and equipment to operate and maintain EVgo’s best in class network.

 

 

Responsibilities:

Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Handle inbound telephone calls from electrical contractors, installation technicians, and related field technicians to activate new site equipment as well as provide remote support to troubleshoot problems in the field
  • Repair and maintain charging systems to EVgo and OEM standards
  • Repairing of charging systems will include repairs to equipment power supply, human machine interface, sensors and network equipment
  • Analyze charging systems to ensure the complete system functions properly and apply corrections, as needed
  • Meet tight repair and preventative maintenance timelines to ensure charging network has high operational uptime
  • Prepare applicable service documentation and service reports including details of repairs
  • Configure and support electronic and digital devices used to monitor and control charging equipment (e.g. network router and modems and credit card equipment configurations)
  • Ensure information, tech/subcontractor time, material usages, etc. is complete and accurately recorded for each service work order
  • Monitor and control sites utilizing real-time data, and automated alarms to ensure maximum system uptime and availability
  • Monitor EV infrastructure, troubleshoot / escalate issues to third-party vendors
  • Create necessary technical, end user, and application/system documentation including diagrams, flowcharts and scheduled reporting
  • Manage data transferring processes by assisting with cleanup of data and importing into new applications
  • Work closely with the Field Operation Team, Regional/Site Development, Field Technicians, Customer
  • Ensure corrective maintenance is identified from reports and input from field, authorizes work, work order created and scheduled, and quality report is submitted to clients when work has been completed
  • Manage short and long term service schedules and be able to report schedules on a weekly basis

Identifying opportunities within the internet of things space to more efficiently monitor equipment

 

Required Skills/Experience:

Education:

  • Associates Degree

Experience:

  •  3-5 years of experience in mechanical / electrical technology
  • E xperience working with tools and test equipment
  •  Ability to follow directions and specific process steps to ensure quality workmanship
  • Experience in training Internal and outside resources
  • Working with vendors to procure provision, configure and ship equipment to third party partners for use in our charging network
  • Hands on systems development & equipment maintenance
  • Understanding of NEC and other construction related standards
  •  Prepare applicable service documentation and service reports including details of repairs
  • Able to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
  • Willing to perform shift and overtime as required
